Fried foods may taste comforting and satisfying, but some varieties can seriously damage long-term health when eaten regularly. While comparing any food directly to smoking is dramatic, certain fried items are loaded with trans fats, sodium, processed ingredients, and harmful compounds created during high-temperature cooking.

Repeatedly eating these foods has been linked to heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and inflammation. The combination of processed oils and deep frying can turn an occasional indulgence into a major health problem over time.
