Applebee’s may be a popular neighborhood grill, but not every dish is friendly to your waistline or overall wellness. Many of their offerings come loaded with excessive calories, sodium, and saturated fat—well beyond what most people should eat in one sitting. Here’s a look at some of the most unhealthy menu items at Applebee’s.
Four-Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders
This dish might sound like the ultimate comfort food, but it’s a nutritional nightmare. Combining creamy four-cheese mac and cheese with crispy, sugary-glazed chicken tenders, this entree packs over 1,400 calories and nearly 3,200 milligrams of sodium. That’s more than a full day’s worth of salt and enough saturated fat to weigh you down for hours.
Classic Combo Appetizer Platter
If you’re ordering this platter to share, think again—many people eat it as a meal. The Classic Combo includes boneless wings, mozzarella sticks, spinach and artichoke dip, and chicken quesadillas. The calorie count can exceed 2,000, especially once you add dipping sauces. It’s a fried, cheesy, salty explosion that’s best left for special occasions—if at all.
Quesadilla Burger
The Quesadilla Burger merges a cheeseburger with a quesadilla, wrapping a beef patty in a tortilla filled with pepper jack cheese, bacon, and condiments. It’s incredibly indulgent, but not in a good way. At over 1,600 calories and more than 100 grams of fat, this hybrid dish is one of the most calorie-dense burgers on the menu.
Chicken Alfredo
Pasta dishes are rarely light, but Applebee’s Chicken Alfredo is especially over-the-top. With creamy sauce, grilled chicken, and a giant portion of fettuccine, this plate delivers close to 1,500 calories and over 2,000 milligrams of sodium. Add breadsticks or an appetizer, and you’re looking at an all-day calorie bomb.
Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip
Even as an appetizer, Brew Pub Pretzels with Beer Cheese Dip are shockingly unhealthy. The pretzels themselves are buttery and salty, and the beer cheese adds a heavy dose of saturated fat and sodium. The dish totals around 1,200 calories, which is more than some of Applebee’s entrees.
Triple Chocolate Meltdown
No meal is complete without dessert—but this one comes at a steep price. The Triple Chocolate Meltdown is a lava cake filled with hot fudge and topped with vanilla ice cream. It clocks in at nearly 1,000 calories and an alarming amount of added sugar. It’s tasty, but definitely not health-friendly.
