Fast food desserts are tempting, but many of them are loaded with excessive sugar, saturated fat, and empty calories. While the occasional treat is fine, regularly indulging in these ultra-sweet items can sabotage your diet and negatively impact your health. Here are some of the worst fast food desserts currently on the menu.
McDonald’s McFlurry with M&M’s
The McFlurry may be fun to eat, but the M&M’s McFlurry from McDonald’s is a sugar bomb in disguise. A regular-size serving clocks in at around 640 calories and nearly 90 grams of sugar—well over double the daily recommended limit. It also contains high levels of saturated fat, making it one of the worst options for heart health. While it’s easy to enjoy this creamy treat after a meal, the sugar crash afterward won’t be as sweet.
Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait
Dairy Queen is known for its ice cream creations, but the Peanut Buster Parfait is particularly over the top. This dessert combines vanilla soft serve with hot fudge and salted peanuts in generous layers, totaling 710 calories and 27 grams of fat, with over 50 grams of sugar. The sugar-fat combo, along with its large portion size, makes it one of the most indulgent—and least healthy—desserts on any fast food menu.
Sonic Oreo Peanut Butter Master Shake
Sonic’s Oreo Peanut Butter Master Shake is a dessert disguised as a drink. A large serving contains a staggering 1,720 calories, 108 grams of fat, and 123 grams of sugar—more than some people eat in an entire day. The combination of ice cream, peanut butter, and crushed Oreos might taste delicious, but it’s one of the most extreme fast food desserts in terms of nutritional damage.
Burger King Hershey’s Sundae Pie
Burger King’s Hershey’s Sundae Pie may look like a modest slice, but it’s loaded with over 300 calories in a small portion, along with 20 grams of sugar and nearly 10 grams of saturated fat. The creamy chocolate filling and crumbly crust make it appealing, but its highly processed ingredients and added sugars offer little to no nutritional value.
Wendy’s Frosty (Large)
Wendy’s Frosty is a classic frozen treat, but even the original version becomes a nutritional nightmare in its large size. A large chocolate Frosty contains around 590 calories, 15 grams of fat, and 75 grams of sugar. Though it has a rich, satisfying texture, the high sugar content and lack of fiber or nutrients make it a poor choice for anyone watching their health.
