Fast food burgers are convenient, satisfying, and often crave-worthy—but they’re not always kind to your health. Some go far beyond the occasional indulgence, packing in excessive calories, sodium, saturated fat, and questionable ingredients. If you’re watching your health, these are some of the burgers you may want to avoid or at least enjoy in serious moderation.

Burger King Triple Whopper with Cheese

The Triple Whopper with Cheese is one of Burger King’s most indulgent items, and it shows. With three flame-grilled beef patties, American cheese, and all the fixings, it clocks in at over 1,200 calories, 82 grams of fat, and 1,470 mg of sodium. That’s more than half of most people’s recommended daily caloric intake in one burger, without fries or a drink. The saturated fat alone makes it a heart-health hazard.

Wendy’s Big Bacon Classic Triple

Wendy’s takes big to a new level with the Big Bacon Classic Triple, which contains three beef patties, multiple strips of bacon, cheese, and all the classic toppings. It comes in at 1,220 calories, 85 grams of fat, and nearly 1,900 mg of sodium. The massive fat content (including saturated fat) and high sodium make this burger especially hard on your cardiovascular system if eaten regularly.

McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese

The Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese is one of McDonald’s heftiest offerings. While not quite as large as some of its competitors, it still packs 740 calories, 42 grams of fat, and 1,360 mg of sodium. It’s also high in saturated fat and processed ingredients, including additives in the bun, cheese, and meat patties. It’s easy to underestimate how unhealthy this burger is since it seems relatively standard, but it’s far from a light meal.

Carl’s Jr. 2/3 lb. Monster Thickburger

The Monster Thickburger at Carl’s Jr. (also sold under the Hardee’s brand) is just as intense as the name suggests. It includes two massive patties, bacon, and multiple slices of cheese, pushing the burger to 1,300+ calories, 95 grams of fat, and around 2,000 mg of sodium. It also contains trans fat, which is widely considered one of the most harmful types of fat for your heart.

Five Guys Bacon Cheeseburger

Five Guys is known for its fresh, customizable burgers, but the Bacon Cheeseburger can be deceptively unhealthy. With two patties by default, bacon, and cheese, it has roughly 1,060 calories, 62 grams of fat, and 1,310 mg of sodium. Add in popular toppings like mayonnaise or grilled mushrooms, and the numbers can climb even higher. While quality might be better than other chains, the nutritional profile is still a red flag.
